Frequently asked questions

Want to know more about the process?

We have compiled a FAQ list for the most commonly asked questions we receive prior to booking, during the preservation process, and up until the moment your frame comes back home to you.

When should I book? Do you accept last minute events?

We recommend booking preservation as soon as you become aware of it! The sooner the better, as spots can fill up and a press may not be available. However, we do accept last minute if the timing works. It’s always best to inquire!

How does payment work?

We require a retainer to secure your date. This goes toward final payment. Final payment will be arranged prior to the design stage and finalized via email correspondence.

$50 retainer to secure your spot

How much is overnight shipping?

We have partnered with Pirateship.com to secure the best rates possible, affording more than half off regular postage fees!

You can check rates by going to pirateship.com and inputting our zip code “32092”

Do I get to see the final look?

We love collaborating with our clients, giving them the opportunity to say they had a say in creating!

We will email design draft(s) for approval- be sure to check out more information on this and get privy with the conditions!

FAQ (General Questions)

And the answers you may need!

We are local to Jacksonville, Florida- St. Augustine/St. Johns county.

We will supply a packaging guide to assist in preparing your flowers for shipping. Additionally, we recommend looking into overnight shipping cost with Pirateship.com as shipping can vary from $30-hundreds of dollars!

We accept 1-2 day shipping usually, but recommend overnight shipping for the best flower condition! Please don’t choose ground/priority shipping as this can delay the flowers and worsen the condition by day. Disregarding this stage can result in unworkable flowers/the right to decline services.

We do not offer refunds- you can cancel prior to sending the flowers, however, this will result in the retainer being withheld. No further payments will be expected. This is due to a certain amount of events being booked in a weekend, and the press already being reserved.

We do not accept returns or issue refunds as this is a custom art piece made specifically for you! If there is an issue with the product upon receipt, please inform us within 3 days so we can make it right.

Our goal is to deliver a piece that you’re satisfied with and is worth displaying. We only work with the best quality flowers, therefore we would recommend replacing flowers that are deemed unworkable, for an added cost. If anything were to happen to your flowers during postage transport, we suggest filing an insurance claim through the post office and using that money to replace lost flowers or unworkable flowers!

We can accept flowers up to 7 days after your event- with the expectations that final design may vary due to the nature of how the flowers are received (loss of color, added texture to the petals being wrinkled, etc), be sure to reach out with photos to ensure preservation is possible!

We do not currently work with dry florals but recommend our dear friend Emily @vintageeleganceco who is the queen of pressing dry florals!

It is important to have an idea on the framing size/ product selection prior to pressing for timing purposes. We do not accept order downgrades due to the time it takes to press the flowers for your specific piece(s), however, we can create additional pieces upon request and if there is enough to work with.

We do not usually press entire arrangments/bouquets, only what is needed for the requested frames with a few extra. We always recommend sending plenty of flowers incase some fair better than others during the pressing process/shipping, with the understanding that we press what we need and reconstruct what is necessary!

While we happily return some extra petals if available, we don’t usually return reconstructed blooms but can offer additional, smaller pieces if you’d like to add on to your existing order with what is left.

This is a great question with a very simple answer- fresh water in a vase! Here are a few ways flowers have been “preserved” prior to getting to me, and why I stear against it!

Hang drying- because there is no water! This is a great way to keep your flowers if you don’t have plans to press them right away.

Freezing- this will cause quicker discoloration/thawing to effect the flowers condition and quite literally mold/ turn soggy

Refrigeration- while not the worst thing to do, the temperature change from cold to room temperature can brown the flowers quicker during shipping!

Wetting the flowers- the stems need a drink, not the blooms! Putting water directly on the flowers can cause spotting and uneven pressing. Be sure to avoid the blooms themselves getting wet and please, don’t spray them šŸ™‚

FAQ on Expectations

It’s very important to expect flower colors to fade/shift, texture to be present, and certain elements of your once fresh bouquet to change when pressed. As time goes on, your flowers will continue to fade. We offer color correction as an add on service to prevent fading/ bring faded colors back to their natural state- however, we cannot guarantee years from now they will still look exactly as they were when first pressed. This is the organic nature of life and working with live elements

While I’m happy to review inspiration photos and receive feedback, each preservation piece is one-of-a-kind. Flowers vary in color, shape, and how they respond to preservation, which means certain elements cannot be duplicated. Your piece will be completed using my artistic judgment to create a design that best suits your flowers.

Roses, ranunculus, stock flower, white orchids, scabious, daisies, butterfly ranunculus, blue delphinium, larkspur, blue thistle, hellebore, cosmos, sunflowers, hydrangea, peonies, black eyed susan, tulips, snap dragon, easter lily, carnation, succulents, Veronica, sweet pea, Gerbera daisy, king protea, dinner plate dahlia, Alstergruss dahlia, Phyllis Farmer dahlia

With preservation in mind, we recommend these flowers as we feel most confident in their pressed state.

dusty miller, Italian ruscus, cider gum eucalyptus, fern, thorow wax, barberry, ruscha, Myrtle, queen Anne’s lace, baby’s breath, pampas grass, lavender thrift

We do not press faux, wood, or artificial flowers. While practicing preservation methods on all types of flowers, we cannot guarantee that certain elements included in your flowers will make it into the final piece. We will be sure to specify at the time of receiving the flowers.
